Bringing My Courses to YouTube
Over the years, I've created quite a bit of training material for my Udemy courses. Between Blender, Unity, C#, procedural generation, and game development, I now have more than 500 published lecture videos.
Until recently, most of that material was available exclusively through my paid courses on Udemy.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to start making some of my older course material available for free on YouTube.
Rather than releasing an entire course at once, I'm publishing one lecture every day. That gives people a chance to follow along at a reasonable pace, while gradually building a substantial library of free training on the channel.
Starting with UV Unwrapping
The first course I'm releasing this way is my UV Unwrapping course.
The course itself is around eight years old, but the videos aren't. About a year ago, I completely re-recorded the course, so the version I'm publishing on YouTube is the newer recording.
I thought this would be a good course to start with because UV unwrapping is such a fundamental part of 3D modeling. If you're creating models that need textures, understanding how to properly unwrap them is a skill you're going to need.
Now anyone interested in learning it can follow the course on YouTube as the lectures are released.
A Lot More to Come
With more than 500 lectures already recorded, I have enough existing material to keep this going for a couple of years, and I'm still creating new courses.
My Udemy courses will continue to be the home for the complete structured courses and projects I create. YouTube simply gives me another way to put some of the training I've accumulated over the years to use and make it available to more people.
I've spent a lot of years creating this material. Rather than letting older lectures sit quietly in my course library, I'd like to give some of them a second life.
So that's what I'm doing.
One lecture each day, free on YouTube, starting with UV Unwrapping.
